Breaking news – and another big ask!
Scottish Labour MP Graeme Downie has secured a Backbench Business Debate entitled ‘Parkinson’s Awareness Month’ on ‘1st May’ – which is brilliant news.
Just to be clear, this debate isn’t directly linked to our petition – so please keep going with all your incredible efforts to get signatures. Every name counts, and we’ll need to keep up the pressure for months to come.
When we met with Graeme earlier this month, he said the most powerful thing people can do now is write to their MPs:
Tell them about the debate
Ask them to attend
Share your personal stories – poor treatment, lack of awareness, how government action could help
The real engine behind this debate is his assistant Vonnie Sandiman – she's been urging people to act on her Facebook page.
If you mention in your email that you know Graeme Downie has secured a Backbench Business Debate for Parkinson’s Awareness month, and you’d like your MP to contribute, that would be amazing!
The debate title is “Parkinson’s Awareness Month”
Let’s keep this momentum going – there are loads of brilliant ideas here about next steps, and I’ll gather them up soon.
But for now I’ve added a QR code and a simple link to share the petition:
And please write to your MP and spread the word.
